Hello Dear One! 

Too much sitting is not good for anyone, but it is especially bad for our tribe of women 50 and wiser. So what do I do after sitting on an airplane for several hours? 

First, I get up and stretch my legs as I walk to the baggage claim (because, silly me, I can hardly travel with only carry on luggage). 

Then, when I am waiting for my luggage, I realize that I have a movement opportunity. And, it is a special opportunity when my gluteous medius or gluteous maximus (aka “the brisket) is involved.


It seems like as soon as I build some strength in this area, that strength dissolves without regular attention. And, if you have been to my classes, you have heard me go on and on about how butt strength is the key to holding our lovely bodies upright without pain, and in particular, pain in the low back.


This video shows you what I do. If you look closely in the last segment at O’Hare, you’ll see a young woman laughing at me and tugging on a parent’s jacket.


Well, I’m thrilled to be beyond caring what others think of me. If my butt needs a workout in the baggage claim at O’Hare, that’s what will happen!


Please try this hip movement out in some public place — in a supermarket line, while waiting for a takeout meal, any old place and report in here! I’d love to hear from you!
